Grigorios Kalliatakis is a Senior Research Officer at the University of Essex Computer Science and Electronic Engineering, working with the Human Rights, Big Data and Technology Project. His research focuses on leveraging computer vision for visual recognition of human rights violations. He has experience on a variety of computer vision-related topics, from image classification and image interpretation to scene understanding and big data. Grigorios’s research has appeared in the MIT Technology Review and E&T Magazine.
He is currently a final year PhD student in Computer Vision at the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE) – University of Essex. Prior to enrolling at Essex, Grigorios completed two Master’s degrees in computer vision and informatics & multimedia at the University of Burgundy and the Technological Educational Institute of Crete, respectively. He also holds a BSc in Informatics Engineering from the Technological Educational Institute of Crete.
