In February 2017, the Human Rights, Big Data and Technology Project made a submission to the Home Affairs Select Committee Inquiry on ‘Policing for the Future: Changing Demands and New Challenges’.
The submission highlights opportunities and risks associated with the adoption of new technologies by police in England and Wales. The submission explores the possible benefits of implementing data driven technologies, such as predictive policing, including the potential to improve police efficiency and reduce overall crime rates.
