HRBDT at Health and Gender: Global and Economic Perspectives Conference

On 23 September 2016, Sonia Bhalotra and Paul Hunt presented their preliminary findings on Brazil’s Family Health Program at the ‘Health and Gender: Global and Economic Perspectives’ conference, organised by the Institute for Social and Economic Research.

The conference showcased new research on inequality in health, with a special focus on maternal health, the pre-school years and the design of public policy. Paul analysed Brazil’s Family Health Program from a right to health perspective, while Sonia provided an economic analysis of the benefits of the Family Health Program on the health of women and children in Brazil.

These findings contribute to the Health and Human Rights Work Stream‘s research on whether big data can help to generate evidence demonstrating whether human rights-shaped interventions contribute to health and other gains.
