On 7 – 8 May 2018, the 6th annual Unintended Consequences (UC) Conference on ‘The Power of Failure: New Perspectives in Social Theory and Practice’ took place in Warsaw. This event, co-organised by the University of Warsaw and the Polish Sociological Association, aimed at providing a platform for discussion for developments in the field of sociology.
The 2018 edition of the conference looked at failure and the complex phenomena surrounding it and aimed at systematising the knowledge in this field to bring a comprehensive approach to failure. Linsey McGoey gave a keynote speech at the beginning of this conference on ‘Strategic Ignorance and the Modern Corporation: Linking Market ‘Failure’ with Economic Domination’.
