HRBDT at the UN Business and Human Rights Forum 2016

On 16 November 2016, the Human Rights, Big Data and Technology Project, together with the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights and the Institute for Human Rights and Business, co-hosted a side event to the United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights on ‘Leadership, Leverage and the Special Challenges of Big Data’.

The discussions centred around defining ‘big data’ and linking with human rights principles via the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, addressing the challenges posed by the use of big data for identifying good business leadership in standard setting and enforcement and exploring ways for responsible collection and use of data by governments and businesses, given the vast amount of new knowledge about possible human rights impacts, both positive and negative.

Please see here for more information on the side event.
